To clean quartz worktops a damp cloth is usually sufficient
Be sure to clean up any spillages as quickly as possible
Quartz worktop cleaner: for sticky spots use detergent or a general cleaning solvent
For any stubborn stains, use a general household cleaning product such as Cif
If there is hardened food or limescale on your quartz worktop use a non-metallic scouring pad. Be sure to rinse thoroughly to remove any residue
Whilst quartz is an extremely hard and durable material, it’s important to always take care to avoid any impact which may cause surface marking or chipping
Avoid spilling any strong chemical solvents such as chlorides, varnish strippers, trichlorethane, paint, oil soaps, permanent ink, nail varnish remover or oven cleaner onto your quartz worktop
Always use a trivet or heat pad for hot pans. Quartz can withst and heat from normal cooking temperatures on a limited basis but extreme heat can affect or damage your quartz worktop
Caring for granite and marble worktops
Clean your granite and marble worktops with a damp cloth. Be sure to dry off any water afterwards
You can maintain the surface shine of your worktops with any liquid all-purpose cleaner; treat it like glass
Never use abrasive detergents or scouring pads
Avoid spilling substances such as oven cleaners, juices, wine, oils, acids such as vinegar or lemon juice, paint removers, nail varnish remover etc. Although your worktops are sealed, substances like this can damage the sealer and create marks. If these substances are spilled, remove the liquid as soon as possible to reduce the chance of it seeping through the seal
Always use a chopping board; do not chop food directly on your worktop. The stone finish may become scratched and it will blunt your knife
Use a trivet for hot pans. While putting a hot pan directly onto your granite worktop once or twice won’t cause a problem, using the same spot every time could eventually lead to discolouration. A trivet or mat can also help to prevent scratching from pots and pans.
If there is hardened food residue or limescale on your worktop, use fine steel wool #000 grade to remove it.
Margrasil worktops are sealed twice prior to installation. You can reseal at home at your discretion; you can purchase a care kit from us. It is important never to use any other chemicals, sealants or detergents other than those specifically suited to granite or marble.
