We recently worked on this kitchen in Horsham.

Back in December we created and fitted a servery counter for a restaurant in Reading.

The stone you can see here is Arabescato Corchia honed marble from Italy, supplied by Stoneworld. The customer chose the exact slabs they wanted from a selection of images we sent to them.
![](https://www.margrasil.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/WhatsApp-Image-2021-01-05-at-14.16.32.jpeg)
We fitted the marble top, as well as a curved, segmented cladding to the front. All of these were polished in together, with a copper strip between the two pieces of marble.
Because this counter is in a restaurant, our team delivered and fitted the marble out of hours on a Saturday for them.
We often work with Orchid Kitchens in Horley, and recently worked on a kitchen showroom with them.

This striking surface is belvedere granite, supplied by Global Granite. Belvedere granite is beautifully fine grained, predominantly black with white and gold veins swirling throughout. It is quarried in Angola.

These are “work in progress” photos, before the kitchen is finished – this is why you can see the wires poking out of the walls and so on.

Over the summer we worked on a kitchen refurb in Wivelsfield Green.
![](https://www.margrasil.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/WhatsApp-Image-2020-09-11-at-11.00.40-1024x768.jpeg)
The material used for this kitchen was cambria summerhill quartz, supplied by Granite Granite Ltd in Essex. Quartz is a tough, durable material perfect for worktops. It’s made from ground natural quartz mixed with pigments and resins creating both a beautiful look and the hardiness you need in a kitchen environment.
![](https://www.margrasil.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/WhatsApp-Image-2020-09-11-at-11.00.40-3-1024x768.jpeg)
![](https://www.margrasil.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/wivelsfield-green-kitchen-5-1024x768.jpeg)
We supplied worktops, full height cladding, upst>andsand window sills for this kitchen. All together this comprised 26 pieces of quartz, all expertly measured, cut and fit to produce a result we’re proud of.

We recently worked on a private residents’ bar in Kensington, creating and fitting a curved Carrara bar for them.
![](https://www.margrasil.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/kensington-bar-1.png)
The marble used was supplied by The Marble and Granite Centre, who we’ve worked with several times now.

These images show the original slab of marble in our workshop before work began to create the bar.
![](https://www.margrasil.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/kensington-bar-2.png)
Carrara marble comes from the city of Carrara in the north of Tuscany, Italy. The stone has been used since the days of Ancient Rome, and was actually used on the facing of Marble Arch in London. The quarries at Carrara have produced more marble than any other place on earth.
![](https://www.margrasil.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/kensington-bar-3.png)
The Carrara marble used for this bar is 60mm thick. Here you can see the cutting process as we began creating the shape.
![](https://www.margrasil.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/WhatsApp-Image-2020-09-11-at-10.56.04-1024x768.jpeg)
Here you can see the edge of one of the pieces of the bar; the markings on the edge here allow the resin to bond the pieces of stone together
As well as polishing the surface and creating rounded or “bullnose” edges, you can see here that we also cut a groove along the bottom of the stone, which created a space for LED strip lights beneath the bar.

Our team worked hard to create a beautiful, flawless finish for this bar and we’re proud of the outcome. Marble is a cool and chic stone that is perfectly suited to the environment in this private bar in Kensington.

One of our regular suppliers is Gerald Culliford in Kingston Upon Thames. We were really honoured when one of the owners referred us to his brother, Rob Semmens, to create new worktops for his kitchen refurb.
The client selected his preferred material at Cullifords, opting for a beautiful piece of Piracema granite originally from Brazil.

Using an image of the stone, he was able to indicate which part of the slab he wanted us to use for the kitchen isl and, and we were able to accommodate this. We templated the room, and cut and fit the stone to his requirements.
![](https://www.margrasil.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/WhatsApp-Image-2020-06-10-at-11.24.20-1-1024x768.jpeg)
The granite has a satinato finish, giving it a slight leathery texture. As you can see from the image here we created the worktop with a cut-out for the sink, as well as a splashback behind the Aga.

We also created a worksurface for the kitchen isl and, which catches the natural light from the large patio door windows perfectly.
![](https://www.margrasil.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/06507a2f-0caf-4d08-a96f-29ee0e6ced90-1024x768.jpg)
Using the same Piracema granite for this shelf adds to the overall feel of the kitchen.
A satinato finish is achieved by using diamond brushes instead of polishing using traditional abrasive pads. This process strips away slightly more of the weaker material from the granite than usual, resulting in a surface that retains the pattern of a polished slab. This finish often emphasises the pattern of the granite in relief – a more textured finish than normal polished granite.
