Can you scratch granite countertops?
Granite is formed naturally from hard minerals such as quartz and feldspar. This creates an incredibly hard surface, so a granite counter is very scratch resistant and does not show wear and tear from daily use. The polished finish of granite is resistant to usual household acids such as vinegar and citrus too. This makes granite a great choice for kitchen benches where we typically move things around a lot.
Are granite worktops heat resistant?
Granite is an igneous rock, meaning it has been formed by the cooling of volcanic rock. The rock itself then, is perfectly resistant to heat. That said, heat can weaken the sealants used to make granite counters shiny so over time the placing of hot pans onto a granite surface can leave a mark.
Can you design granite worktops to fit my kitchen?
Our masons and designers will work closely with you along each step of the way to ensure you are getting exactly what you want and need. Once the design has been agreed, we create a full-sized replica in hardboard so that you can really get a feel for how your new granite countertops will look in your kitchen. Only when you are one hundred per cent happy with the design will we begin to cut the stone for your new worktops.
